Ari Abrams —
Dragon Rider.
Founder of Way of the Drum
Musician | Rhythm Facilitator | Community Connection
Ari Abrams, known artistically as Dragon Rider, is a musician, percussionist, rhythm facilitator, and experiential guide devoted to exploring the relationship between rhythm, human consciousness, movement, and our natural capacity for connection.
With a lifelong relationship with music, Ari recognizes rhythm as one of humanity’s oldest and most universal forms of communication. His work brings together musical expression, intentional listening, body awareness, and the ancient human tradition of gathering in rhythm.
His philosophy begins with a simple understanding: rhythm exists throughout nature and within each of us. From the beating of our hearts and the cadence of our breath to the cycles of the Earth, rhythm is an essential part of our existence.
The evolution of Way of the Drum
As the founder of Way of the Drum, Ari creates inclusive, interactive musical experiences designed to bring people together across generations, cultures, backgrounds, and physical and cognitive abilities.
His work embraces the entire spectrum of human life, offering rhythm-based experiences for children, educational institutions, individuals with special needs, hospitals, mental health and recovery facilities, senior living communities, and memory care centers.
Ari also facilitates community drum circles, corporate team-building experiences, wellness retreats, private celebrations, festivals, and special events.
Building upon his musical experience and the foundation of service he received through mentorship, Ari has developed his own facilitation framework, The NeuroRhythmic Bioresonance Method™ (NRBM).
This approach integrates percussion, natural body movement, vibration, intentional listening, and collective rhythmic participation to encourage bodily awareness, relaxation, creative expression, and interpersonal connection.
Drawing upon concepts such as rhythmic entrainment and interpersonal synchronization, Ari explores how shared rhythm can encourage individuals to move beyond their separate musical expressions and experience the possibilities of collective participation.
His intention is to create environments where every person has an opportunity to contribute, regardless of musical experience, age, background, or ability.
For Ari, the drum is more than a musical instrument. It is a means of communication, an invitation to listen, and a bridge between our individual experiences and our collective human nature.
Through Way of the Drum, Ari continues to honor the lineage of service passed on by his mentor while exploring new possibilities for bringing people together through rhythm.
Honoring the lineage · Andrew Ecker
An important influence in Ari’s journey is his great mentor, Andrew Ecker, from whom he learned the lineage of service that helped shape the foundation of Way of the Drum.
Through Andrew’s mentorship, Ari developed a deeper appreciation for rhythm as more than musical expression. It became a means of bringing people together, cultivating awareness, and creating meaningful experiences through shared participation.
Ari carries profound gratitude and respect for Andrew and the teachings that helped inspire his path as a rhythm facilitator. He honors this mentorship by continuing to share the gift of rhythm with people from all walks of life, carrying forward the spirit of service while allowing his own creative expression and understanding to evolve.
In honoring his mentor, Ari recognizes that the true value of a lineage lies not only in preserving what has been received, but also in sharing it generously and allowing it to continue growing through service to others.
Honoring those who came before us, embracing the rhythm within us, and sharing it with those who come after us.
When people find rhythm together, they remember how to live together.
